FAQ in KTIGERS Classes

  • What is taekwondo and how is it different from other martial arts?
    • The martial arts were developed thousands of years ago as forms of self-defence. Karate originated in Japan, Kung Fu came from China, and Taekwondo is native to Korea. In terms of techniques, Taekwondo emphasizes kicking techniques more than other martial arts (karate, for example, focuses on hand strikes), making it ideal for people who may not necessarily excel in upper body strength, since the legs have greater reach and are stronger than the arms. In addition to this, it is a much more aerobic workout and thus results in better physical conditioning. Taekwondo is also an Olympic sport, whereas Karate and many other styles of martial art are not.
  • At what age can student start?
    • We accept students as young as 3 years old. Many parents have found that within a year, children learning Taekwondo gain noticeably positive traits such as increased self-esteem, respect, overall physical fitness, and marked improvement in fine motor skills.
  • Why should I choose KTIGERS taekwondo?

An additional benefit of KTigers Taekwondo versus other styles of martial art and even other Taekwondo centres is that there are progression paths for Taekwondo lovers who practice as a sport or K-Pop lovers who wish to learn the fusion dance moves.
  • Does Taekwondo Increase aggressiveness?
    • Taekwondo cultivates a serene attitude in practitioners and focus on self-control, discipline, and self-defence. It is perfectly natural for some kids to be more aggressive than others, but like any other skill acquisition, they can learn to control their behaviour through Taekwondo-a skill that will serve them throughout life. Students quickly learn the power behind Taekwondo movements and appreciate the positive learning outcomes that the training has bring forth.
Our instructors will continuously educate our students that Taekwondo seeks to build a healthy lifestyle and self-improvement, not a tool for aggression.
  • How long does it take to earn a black belt?
    • It is the journey that is most important, not the destination. On average, the journey to Black Belt takes about 2-3 years.
  • What kind of benefits can I expect from your programs?
    • For our youth programs, besides focusing on the physical portion of training, we put a strong emphasis on non-physical exercises, like academic achievement, leadership skills, better concentration, increased confidence, building self-esteem and self-discipline, respecting others and many more.
